    Oneida Strike Force

Fist post here. Had been considering a bow fishing rig for a few years. The gander mtn near me is closing so on a whim I bought an AMS reel, roller rest, finger savers and 3 arrows for less than $100. Next step was to find a decent used bow for about $100. In talking to a work buddy I found he had an Onieda Strike Eagle he used for deer hunting but recently switched to a crossbow. I talked him out of it for $150, it's in excellent condition, near mint. It came with a nice release, quiver, case, over draw and 10 arrows. Was that a good deal? It's set up with an over draw and the draw weight is currently around 60lbs. The limbs are rated 50-70lbs. How far can it be turned down without screwing it up? Is it worthy of the conversion or should I sell it and find something with less draw weight?image.jpg

I've had one one down to 45 without problems.

I believe you can contact American eagle bows and get different power limbs to lower the draw weight. I got 30-50 pound limbs for an aero force from them.

Depends how deep and how far you shoot. We shoot 50 pound bows for our type of fishing. So I would either turn it down to 50 lbs, tune it and shoot it or have the limbs shaved to 50 lbs then shoot it

That bow will hit 40 with no problem, 150 is a very fair price on a strike eagle, I shot a bunch of fish with mine when I had it.

Thanks for the input. I set down to 45lbs, seems louder than before but seems to shoot okay. I did not know about shaving limbs. Might check into that over the winter if i keep this rig. I'm kinda thinking a shorter bow is going to be better to shoot from the kayak. Now I need to find some carp!
