there was a post last week asking about these lights, www.fishinglightsetc.com. i couldnt find it, however i bought 2 of the magnum dock lights and i tried them out last nite for the first time. they are 300w each and are designed to tie power cord to rail and let hang down in the water. They illuminate approx 20` radius in clear water and 10-12 ft in dingy(mostly what i was in). they really light the bottom up great. They gave me the opportunity to MISS and additional 15-20 carp i dont think i wouldve seen with just the halos in the dingy water. The extra fish were deeper and i just cant friggin hit em
! the extra shots were fun tho, ill get it figured out soon. here are some pics of the lights. ill try to get better ones next time out. |

Awsome! If you could, get some more pics. Try to take some in shallower water.

yeah, i think so, you can get 2 of the 300w for 126.00 plus shipping. u can have them in the water and fishing in under 1 minute per side. they sell a 450w also. i bet it would kick azz. didnt have the extra wattage on my genny for those. i could barely add these. i may cut back on on of my halos now.color tubes interchange quickly also.

kennyh, thanks for posting! I just joined this site and I saw the website about those submersible lights. I didn't order them since I had no proof that they were effective. Now I think I'll order a couple.
Do they plug directly into your generator? I just bought my first generator. I read somewhere that one should not plug his trolling motor directly into a generator because it could burn out the trolling motor. It's not that way with these lights, right? Thanks for the help. |

These lights can be bought either as 12vdc or 120vac. You are correct in not wanting to plug your trolly into a generator. My genny has a 12vdc output on it but no way will it power a trolling motor, too many amps. Its meant to charge a battery. And welcome to the site! |

Ok...the 120 vac are designed to plug into a regular outlet, including a generator, right?

no they cant you have converter boxes that you can use to switch light for example if you have 5 HPS and 6 Halos you can switch between the two lights you want to use

If you look at the website carefully, you will notice there are 12 volt (dc) lights, which connect to your battery AND 120v (VAC) lights, which connect to your generator, sold here.
12v (dc) ~ connect to battery http://www.fishinglightsetc.com/AquaStarWhite.html 120v (vac) ~ connect to generator http://www.fishinglightsetc.com/Magn...-I-AC-200.html I am waiting/hoping Kennyh will post some more pics of these lights while running in some shallow water (1-5 feet deep) to see how they light up the bottom without the help of his halos. If they are truely durable and will take a beating and not leak, I just may order a couple to see how much light they put off without the glare the standard halos put off. Can you imagine about 8 of these hanging in the water, lighting up the world underneath the water and not lighting up everything above water? |

Mike, they are 2 150w halo bulbs enclosed in a watertight glass tube. the globe is then encased in a plastic tube to protect the light. it bounces off of trees and stumps pretty good. i wont get a chance to go at night for a few more days to take more pics. im going during the day sat to shoot gar. hope this helps. |

At our last shoot there was a guy with a set-up similar to these. He would hang 2-3 of them off boom arms out each side & claimed it would light up a 20-25yd area under & around his boat. Never seen it in action but interesting concept though.

Do these light hang down in the water or just over it ?? If in the water (under water), check your regs ... We cannot have any light under the water here in MO, at least that's the way it used to be ... That's why all the crappie fishermen here used those floating lights at night ...

![]() I ordered 2 of the 450 watt submersible lights, guys. I'll definitely take some pics & post them on this thread. Not sure when I'll first use them, however. avalosjimmy, Please elaborate on why you didn't like the lights! I hope I didn't make a mistake buying them. They were almost $100 each. Thanks everyone for sharing your insight! |

That I will, Mobius. I'll probably be bowfishing this Wednesday night, but I doubt the lights will arrive by then. We'll see.

went out again last nite, tried to take more pics with the new lights. my camera is 7.1mp and it will not take pics good at night. here is what i found, i put the green tube on one light and white on the other. GREEN tube is by FAR better. zero reflection in clear water. it lights the bottom up great. the white light prob works better in the dingy water, however, it reflects alot on dirt particles in the water. IMO if anyone is gonna buy these lights, make sure to get at least 300w with green tubes.the lights will illuminate the bottom in approx 6-8ft of water with a diameter of approx 20ft around front of boat in relatively clear water without halos running. hardly any carp out last nite at local lake by the way.

Tell her you got GGP, she knows what ballast they use and can tell you if the bulbs will work. I talk to her 3 week ago and she said she is stocking green and 3K bulb.

I tried my two 450W submersible lights Wednesday night. It was on the Colorado river in Austin, and the LCRA is releasing water from Mansfield dam for irrigation downstream. Due to the strong current, I gave up trying to bowfish in the main river and I just kept cruising around near the launch location where the water was protected from the current.
The water was muddy due to the heavy current. My Q-beam was horrible in the muddy water. I used the green tubes on the submersibles and they were awesome. I can't wait to try these lights in slow-moving water, regardless of clarity. I am certain that these lights will afford me many more shots in muddy water than my Q-beam has. I took some pictures with my Blackberry, but I don't know how to post them yet since my Blackberry is new. I'll bring my good camera next time. I only shot 2 fish - a gar & a buffalo - but I took probably 30 shots, mostly at gizzard shad. I probably missed 6 gar and 4 buffalo (only about 4 pounders). I think my next trip will be July 4th or 10th. I should have some great pics then. ![]() |
